When Apple published native iPhone SDK R&D Arts, Inc. has switched its focus to mobile development. We have acquired couple of contract for prototype R&D projects for Google Map related applications. The customer was in need to implement interactive venue locators that would allow the customer to find a venue on the map and by simple tap gesture derive the information about the venue. It was pre-OS 3.X era and Google Map API was not available on the iPhone. We had our own implementation of Google Map API (based on Javascript). While experimenting with Google Map API we have discovered whole world of Location Based Services. We started experimenting with various mapping solutions and we ended up developing the library for non-Google Map APIs. We ended up with universal tile supporting client capable working with multiple providers. Currently we support Cluodscape and Open Street Map maps. We are capable working with tile sets provided by Mapnik server.
